Solar Eclipse ChasingI've been chasing total solar eclipses with the ecliptomaniacs since 1999 - see our web site for more information. Solar Eclipse CalculatorsBack in 1999, I started to write some software to help me know when to expect to see the sun disappear behind the moon - it would be nice to be able to count down the last couple of seconds of sunlight! My work has since been improved (with the help of Fred Espenak and Jean Meeus) and published as the NASA Solar Eclipse Explorer. (There is also a NASA Lunar Eclipse Explorer). There is also version of the calculator for java-enabled mobile phones on the ecliptomaniacs web site. Comet Halley XYZ file for CelestiaCelestia is a pretty amazing simulator - you can "fly" to pretty much any planet, moon or star, and the results are very realistic. My contribution to celestia is a file describing the motion of Comet Halley between 261BC and 2380AD.RefractionI wrote a quick paper about refraction of near-earth events. DE406 eclipsesThe Besselian elements of all solar eclipses in DE406 is in a .zip file on the ecliptomaniacs.com web site. |
